Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder: Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder
Drop-top version of the new Lamborghini Gallardo revealed at LA Auto Show
Forget financial crises, if you're shopping for a £160,000+ convertible Italian supercar, you're facing quite the conundrum - Alfa 8C Spider, Ferrari Scuderia 16M, or this, the new Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder?
Tough one isn't it? Although if raw power alone is your main pull, then get ready to go Gallardo - the Lambo's 5.2-litre V10 offers up 552bhp and 398lb ft of torque, compared to the 503bhp and 347lb ft produced by the Scuderia.
The LP560-4 coupe is good for 202mph and 0-60mph in 3.7sec, figures which the Spyder shouldn't be far off. The big two-zero-zero should be just about possible, although with the roof down it mightn't be all that pleasant.
The Reventon-inspired looks and complex alloy wheels are grafted across from the LP560-4 coupe, which also benefited from tweaked suspension and fettled four-wheel drive - impressing us greatly at evo Car of the Year 2008. The rear styling takes a departure away from the fixed-roof LP, though, with a lovely vented engine cover that harks back to Italian supercars of old.
If the Raging Bull is your excessive open-top of choice, then make around £165k of your hard-earned spare. If you can't quite stretch to that, then keep on dreaming with our video review of the LP560-4 hard-top.
